About Englewood Florida Englewood is located on the Southern Gulf Coast of Florida and is minutes away from Venice, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Sarasota and Boca Grande.

Lemon Bay, a rich fishing ground, is located right outside your door. The Intracoastal Waterway, which passes through the center of Lemon Bay, provides a quick and convenient path to the islands of Gasparilla, Little Gasparilla, Palm, Captiva and Sanibel. In addition, the scenic and infamous waters of Charlotte Harbor may be reached in minutes by boat.

The small, beachfront town of Englewood sits right on Lemon Bay. Widely known as one of Florida’s best-kept secrets, the town of Englewood has four pristine beaches great for swimming, shelling, sunbathing, boating, fishing, and scuba diving, snorkeling or hiking along the ocean’s edge.

The sun sparkles off turquoise Lemon Bay during the day and at dusk, the sunsets are unbelievable. The warm, tropical climate and off shore breezes make it a place you’ll want to return to time and again. This is one place that has everything you’d expect in a Florida vacation, without the high prices and crowds. If you do get the urge for more excitement, easy day trips take you to Tampa Bay, Naples and Fort Myers. Disney World is a two and a half-hour drive from Lemon Bay and Miami is three hours away.

About the Fishing "Lemon Bay is one of Florida's best kept secrets. Even nearby locals that fish Charlotte Harbor extensively seldom make the run up here to fish," says Captain Tom McLaughlin. "It is safe, family friendly, calm on even the windiest of days, and honestly I don't think I have ever been in a place with as many fish, and not just any fish but BIG Reds and Snook, in my entire life." Coming from a fisherman who was raised stalking the inshore and back country waters of the Florida Keys, that is saying a lot. "I was amazed the first time I fished over here. There is just so much life, such a diverse ecosystem, and every where I looked there were fishy looking spots that actually held lots of fish! It's what the keys must have been like 50 years ago," he says.

Lemon Bay not only offers terrific inshore action close to the docks, but also is a perfect starting point for your fishing adventure should your desires take you farther from home. "You have bridgeless access to the Gulf of Mexico through a deepwater pass (with no idle speed zones between the marina and open water) and short ride South will put you into Gasparilla Sound, Bull Bay, Turtle Bay, Charlotte Harbor, and the fabled waters of Boca Grande Pass. During the summer the beaches just outside Stump Pass are absolutely packed with feeding pods of Tarpon. "Some of my most memorable days fishing for Silver Kings has come not from the big waters of Boca Grande Pass, but from the beaches just minutes from my dock. We have Snook, Reds, Tarpon, and Trout inshore--or if offshore is your game you can tangle with Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack, Kings, Cobia, Permit, and even Blackfin Tuna and large sharks just a short ride out of Stump Pass," says Captain Tom. "You really can't pick a better location to spend time on the water."

Climate Info
The Southwest Region of Florida, between Sarasota and Fort Myers, has comfortable weather year round. At 5 to 25 feet above sea level, the region has a subtropical climate that is checked by the tempering influence of the Gulf of Mexico. The Peace River, as well as the Gulf of Mexico, contributes to the hot and humid climate in the summertime (but it's not unbearable due to cooling Gulf breezes.)Prevailing winds are normally 12-18 mph. The rainy season lasts from June through September, with rain spread fairly evenly throughout those months. Thunderstorms tend to pop up quickly but also dissipate just as quickly, with the sunshine quickly returning. The winters are lovely with warm afternoons and mild evenings and much less rain. Hurricane season generally runs late summer through late October in the Gulf of Mexico.
